Marilyn (Hahn) Pierpont passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family-sister Natalie Hahn, daughters Dawn Clopton and Dianne Jameson, grandchildren Matthew Clopton and Kayla Jameson. She was anxiously looking forward to the arrival of her first great granddaughter, due in July, lovingly referred to by her as “The Bump”.

Marilyn was born in York, Nebraska on June 5th, 1936 and grew up on a farm in Polk, Nebraska. She graduated from Polk High School as Valedictorian in 1953, and was an outstanding 4-H member, receiving many county and state awards. She enjoyed driving the tractor to school and church, where she had 14 yrs of perfect attendance in Sunday School. She continued her education at Wesleyan University and St Mary’s College, graduating in 1960. She received her degree in the nursing field to become a radiologist. She was employed by Bryan Hospital and St Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska. After moving to California in 1967, she worked at Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa and later became chief of the X-ray Department at Healdsburg Hospital.

She moved to Gualala, California in 1978 after retirement to fulfill her dream of living on the ocean. At that time, she enjoyed working part time at a local nursery and later opened Old World Deli. She returned to Nebraska in 1996 to care for her mother, later residing in Central City. She volunteered at The Merrick County Thrift Store for sixteen years where she enjoyed the company of a group of friends early every Monday morning, until Covid.

Her greatest love in life was her family, and her favorite place to be was anywhere with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, perusing yard sales and auctions, and meeting with former hospital friends, family and friends for lunch. She enjoyed traveling with her daughters to Italy and joined her sister Natalie for adventures in Italy, Africa and New York City.

She was preceded in death by her mother Grayce and Father Lloyd, stepfather Lt. Governor Dwight Burney, her ex-husband Donald Pierpont, grandson Brandon Clopton, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of her wonderful life will be held on her birthday-June 5th, 2024 at 11:30am at Polk United Methodist Church, Polk Nebraska, officiated by Pastor Neil Kloppenborg.Aluncheon will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The American Cancer Society (www.donate. cancer.org) St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (wwwstjude. org), and restoration of the Polk Band Stand, Polk County Foundation, PO Box 6, Polk, NE 68654. She will be truly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
