Verneta F. Ferris

Verneta Fern Ferris, age 90, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away July 1, 2024 at Josie Harper Residence Hospice House in Omaha.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola with Pastor Evan Christensen officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery.

Verneta was born March 1, 1934 in Stromsburg, Nebraska to William Edward and Beulah (Sweenie) Ferris. She attended elementary school at Dist. 7 in rural Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School in 1952. She then attended Kearney State College graduating in 1956 with a teaching degree.

She moved to Denver, Colorado where she began her career at Allcot Elementary. She retired from teaching in 1976. She remained in Denver until later moving to Omaha into Heritage At Legacy and then to Parsons House.

She was a member of Delta Phi Beta Sorority in Kearney and Delta Kapa Gama Teachers Sorority.

She enjoyed swimming and the outdoors. You would also find her walking with neighbors and friends.

Survivors include her sister Karen (Larry) Wieseman of Osceola, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Beulah and one sister Norma Jean Evans.

Memorials are suggested to the Osceola Library.
