Lyle James Scheinost, 52, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at his home when he was off the road in Osceola with his family & friends by his side. A Celebration of this Marine’s life will be Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City, NE with Pastor Thomas Lucas officiating. Burial of ashes will be at the Central City Cemetery.

Lyle was born December 24, 1969 in Grand Island to Kenneth and Judy Scheinost. He loved his Nebraska football & his Yankees but he loved his family and friends the most. Lyle was a naturally funny person that could tell the best stories, do hilarious impressions and could always make you laugh.

In 1988 Lyle graduated from Central City High School, then joined the Marines in June of 1988.  Lyle served our country for six years, from June 1988 until July 1995. He was especially proud of his 3rd Battalion, Gulf War Unit, AKA 3/1.

Lyle worked as an over the road truck driver after being honorably discharged from the Marines. Lyle resided in California for 26 years but came back to Nebraska often to see friends and family. He was known for his sense of humor and loyalty to friends and family.

Lyle is survived by his mother, Judy Scheinost of Osceola, Ne; his sister, Kim Scheinost of Osceola, NE; nephews, Joshua, Johnathon and James Snipes; godsons, Devon and Mason Carter of California; aunts and uncles, Bob and Lucille Storjohann, Ray and Jeanette Timmermann, Jim and Alberta Storjohann, all of O’Neill;  Lisa and Peter Kelly of Blair, NE; and Matt and Carlenne Wozniak of Oklahoma.

Lyle is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Frank Scheinost; his aunt, Donna Scheinost; and his cousins, LeRae Ahlers and Jennifer Storjohann.
